How to play Remix Tiles
By John Hany · Updated 2026-10-28
Remix Tiles is a four-lane rhythm game. Tiles fall from the top of the screen and you tap each one as it reaches the glowing line, in time with the music. Hit it right on the line for a Perfect; a little early or late is a Great or a Good. Let a tile fall off the bottom of the screen and the run is over.
Controls
| Device | How you play |
|---|---|
| Phone or tablet | Tap the tile itself, wherever it is on the screen. Use as many fingers as you like; each finger is tracked on its own. |
| Keyboard | D F J K for the four lanes, left to right. You can change the keys in Settings → Controls. |
| Mouse | Click the tiles. Fine for easy songs; keyboard or touch is faster for hard ones. |
| Pause | The pause button, or Esc / P. The game also pauses if you switch away, and counts down 3-2-1 when you come back. |
Tiles, long notes and chords
- Tiles: one tap each. Tiles come in order: you can't hit a higher tile while a lower one is still waiting, but tiles in the same row (a chord) can be hit in any order.
- Long notes: tap them like any tile. Keep holding for bonus points; letting go early costs nothing.
- Chords: two, three or even four tiles that land together. Hit them all at once, with two hands or several fingers.
- Linked tiles (×2, ×3): very fast notes in the same lane share one tile, marked with how many notes it holds. One tap scores all of them.
Scoring, combo and grades
Every hit adds to your combo. The combo raises a multiplier: ×2 from 10 hits, ×3 from 30, ×4 from 60. At 50 the lanes catch fire, and the crowd cheers at every streak milestone. When the song ends you get a grade from D up to S+, plus a Full Combo badge if you never broke your streak and All Perfect if every hit was a Perfect.
If a tile gets away, you can take one more chance per song: the song carries on from where you stopped, after a 3-2-1. A rescued run still earns XP but doesn't set a record. The Warm-up track can't be failed at all, so it's the place to practise.
Picking a difficulty
Each song has up to five charts, from Easy to Expert+. The song pages show how many tiles each chart has, how many notes per second it averages and where it peaks, so you can pick one that suits you. As a rule of thumb, under 3 notes per second is relaxed, 3 to 5 is moderate, 5 to 7 is intense and anything faster is extreme. The game also marks one difficulty "For you", based on the songs you've cleared.

Settings that help
- Audio offset and calibration: if your hits feel late (common with Bluetooth headphones), open Settings → Audio → Calibrate offset and tap along to the beat.
- Scroll speed: faster scrolling spreads the tiles out, which makes dense songs easier to read.
- Lane cover: hides the top of the lanes for sight-reading practice.
- Light show: Calm softens flashes and strobes; Off turns the lighting off.
- Note style and colours: classic tiles or gem pucks, in the theme's colours, lane colours or the map's own left and right colours.
Daily Challenge, XP and achievements
Every day all players get the same Daily Challenge song; clearing it is worth +250 XP. Cleared songs earn XP, levels and titles, and there are 24 achievements to unlock. Play on consecutive days to build a daily streak. Your progress is saved on your device; there's no account.
